Kevin Quinn – President Elect, La Jolla Rotary

I am honored to have been elected to be President Elect for The Rotary Club of La Jolla.  I will follow an esteemed group Rotary members who have done a wonderful job of leading our group during our efforts to give back to La Jolla and our community in general.  The Rotary Club of La Jolla provides very substantial grants to local graduates as well as graduates from Garfield High School.  The club also provides weekly lessons in English via our Tijuana Scholars Program.  In Continue reading →

National Take-Back Initiative

The DEA has an annual “National Take-Back Initiative” aimed at collecting outdated and unnecessary prescription medications. Many seniors have medicine cabinets full of medications that they no longer need, or are expired. San Diego Homecare fully supports this program and participates every year in assisting and encouraging our clients to submit their medications that conform to the programs guidelines. For our clients the primary concern is; an elderly person could mix up medications if there are too many bottles in their medication cabinet. Additionally, disposing Continue reading →

Helping The Elderly Must Come From The Heart

At San Diego Homecare we are fortunate that we have an established, longterm group of Caregivers. The essential element of a great Caregiver is that their wanting to be a Caregiver comes from the heart. Being a Caregiver for the elderly can be a hard job, and to do it successfully you must love caring for the elderly. I think the same goes for administering a Homecare company. I love interacting and putting together a successful connection between a wonderful Caregiver and a client. It Continue reading →

Signs That a Parent Might Need Assistance

This is an active time for San Diego Homecare. Oftentimes family members are visiting parents at this time of the year and notice things are not quite right. Perhaps, a parent isn’t grooming themselves as assiduously as they have in the past. Perhaps, there is outdated food in the refrigerator. Perhaps, a parent is wearing clothing that isn’t as clean as they would normally be. These are some signs that maybe it is time to engage a company such as San Diego Homecare to assist Continue reading →

Treating The Elderly with Respect, Dignity, and Happiness!

At San Diego Homecare we strive to always treat the Elderly, our clients, with Respect, Dignity, and Happiness! What this means is, we treat our clients like we’d like our parents to be treated. We all want respect. Oftentimes, the elderly feel a lack of respect as they are no longer defined by their vocation, or children’s success. At San Diego Homecare we show our respect of our clients by listening to our clients stories–what rich stories we’ve heard! Stories of travel, job success, home Continue reading →

Entering 13th Year as President/Director of San Diego Homecare-Providing Assistance for the Elderly

I have been involved in Healthcare for over 27 years–like everyone else, this seems crazy…can I be that “old”. For the last 13 years as the President/Director of San Diego Homecare. The first half of my career in Healthcare I was involved in the Hospital arena–primarily dealing with the CEO, CFO, COO, level. I enjoyed great success and also enjoyed the challenge of that part of my career. I REALLY love what I do now! My primary interaction, now, is with families and people needing Continue reading →

Social Services League of La Jolla League House Picnic

I spent the day yesterday at The League House in La Jolla. Yesterday marked the 10th Annual League House Picnic. Every year the La Jolla Rotary celebrates a theme at the annual picnic. This year the theme was “Surfin’ USA”. The League House courtyard was transformed into a surfing paradise complete with surfboards, wetsuits, tikis, lifeguard tower, beach balls, fishing nets, seashells and each table was adorned with a beautiful beach shack with palm trees! It was a sight to behold. The residents of The Continue reading →
